Tuesday Night Ride (TNR)

WhoClub members only. Waiver required.

What - This is a road racing event started in 1990 offering a 10-mile loop with low traffic, smooth roads and awesome views of the Chesapeake Bay

We currently have three competitive groups and one non-competitive group for families to ride together on low-traffic roads with enforced speed limits at Pax River. Our A group is similar to USA Cycling Cat 1-4 racers, with speeds over 22 mph. The B group is Cat 4/5, about 1-2 mph slower than the A group, and the C group is 1-2 mph slower than the B group. Each series lasts for 6 weeks, and we have 5-6 series each year. Points are given for sprints and finishes and medals are awarded at the end of the year. These races are for training, focusing on conditioning and experience. Most races are 30-40 miles with three sprints for points. There are also time trials, crits, and alternative road courses for variety. Our Tuesday Night Series is insured through USA Cycling, so club membership is required for coverage. Members can find category assignments, schedules, rules, and procedures in the Documents Section of our site. Base access questions for members should be directed to Gabe Murray.

When - Tuesday Night Series runs continuously every Tuesday from March through October during Daylight savings time. Start time is 5:30 pm each week.

Where - Typically begins at the Outdoor Pool onboard NAS Patuxent River, MD (Access to Pax River is restricted) but there are frequent events in the local area so check the schedule on the Event Calendar to see where the race is for that day, get directions to the start, and see the course.
